The tower with the blue looking light is nice 🙂 What is the tower used for?
It matches up with another tower about 500m away that’s just in the bay (Port Phillip Bay, where Melbourne is). The tower on the bay is slightly shorter than this one, and incoming ship line up the flashing lights on each tower so they can follow the shipping lanes at night. I’m fairly certain the clear light at the top uses a lens to change colour when the ships are off course as well, telling them which way they need to correct.
You can see the white tower in the water between the piers. The tower in the photo above is near the top of the map window, at the northern end of Beacon Vista.
